The Crossing Europe Film Festival is celebrated in Linz every year. In 2024 Radio FRO had the chance to talk to the men and women behind the scenes for the upcoming radio and Youtube broadcasts. Shortly before the festival started I noticed that there was an old trailer on the Radio FRO Youtube channel, advertising their upcoming programs regarding the Crossing Europe Film Festival 2023. So I pitched the idea to film a new one, got permission and made it in two days.
My colleague Vera Ecser was scheduled for interviews with much of the staff organizing the Crossing Europe Film Festival 2024 in Linz. One example would be Communications Manager Matthias Eckkramer. Besides him we got to talk with event managers, social media creators and marketing experts. All of these interviews can be watched on the Radio FRO Youtube Channel.
For the International Womens Day 2024 a variety of movements had gathered to march through Linz, expressing their anger and frustration about insufficient and lenient legislation regarding violence against women in Austria and around the globe. Thousands of people gathered on this particular day to march through the city and Radio FRO had the chance to interview a diverse array of protestors, although not all of them made it into the final video, which is only a small compilation of about a dozen interviews.
There is no doubt, that the younger generations of today are the prime target of social media as well as its most active users. My colleague Magdalena made her way into Linz, asking passerbys about their social media usage. About the amount of time they spend on social media, which platforms they prefer and about what they think the dangers of overconsumption might be.
Reporter Aylin Yilmaz attended the Autism Awareness Festival in Linz for International Autism Day in 2024, speaking with people affected by autism, as well as charity organizations and researchers of the local university hospital, the Johannes Kepler Clinical University.
